Methodology
The project combines ethnographic fieldwork, biographical interviews, and creative workshops to gather empirical data and encourage active participation from diaspora members.
Participants include members of the Afghan and Somali diasporas from diverse generational backgrounds living in the United States and Italy.

Interviews
The interviews explore personal and family histories, migration experiences, and perceptions of both homeland and host country.

Creative workshops
The creative workshops employ participatory techniques such as storytelling, music, and the creation of symbolic artifacts to investigate memory within a collective setting.

Multi-method framework
This multi-method framework enables a comparative analysis of how memory is shaped by generational position and diasporic context.
Given the challenges of engaging with hard-to-reach populations, a range of strategies has been implemented to facilitate participation. These include collaboration with NGOs and local institutions, the activation of pre-existing community contacts in Italy, and participant observation in key community spaces.
